Finally, a flattering dress for plus sizes

As mother of the groom I had several wasted trips to bridal stores and dress depts. and many matronly, unflattering and frankly somewhat depressing experiences before I found this dress. One reviewer commented that she ordered several dresses and simply returned the ones that didn't work, so I tried that approach too since my local store doesn't carry plus sizes. The dresses were all nice, but this was by far the best look for me.
-the color is accurate in the picture. -At 5'5 and barefoot this dress has 1-2" trailing on the floor. -Per the other reviews I ordered a size smaller and it's perfect. -The neckline in back doesn't bother me much and doesn't show any straps with my 'everyday' bra. However the cleavage while really not that low for most will need a little adjustment for me to be comfortable. -Nordstrom's makes it easy for me to return the others via mail or at the local store where I can also have this one altered slightly

This dress is very flattering, lighweight and well constructed. I usually wear an 18W and I ordered this dress in NAVY in a size 16W and the fit was perfect. Others had posted that this dress ran large so I took a chance and went the size smaller. I am glad I did.
For my body type, I have spare tires (not pear shaped) so I will wear spanks to make me look smoother through the middle but this dress is still very flattering. I bought this to wear to my son's outside wedding June 30th and I know it will be comfortable and lightweight. Love the length of scalloped sleeves instead of having cap sleeves. I am happy that I found something with soft bling to look and feel good as the mother of the groom.
I also can't say enough about Nordstrom's shipping. Dress arrived in a box but wasn't wrinkled. Very impressed!

The other reviews were so right! I love this dress! I bought it for my son's wedding in May and can't wait to wear it. I feel so elegant and beautiful in it. The decorated top and flowy skirt look like 2 pieces but are one dress. They hide the lumps & bumps and give me more of a defined shape than I actually have anymore! The one picture really doesn't really do it justice. I think more poses & pictures would help sell it even more. I am a 5'2, busty, large-hipped, size 16-18 (depending on dress style) woman. I'm in my 60's but young at heart and didn't want the usual 3-piece 'matronly-looking' outfits that are normally relegated to women of my size and shape. This 16W is even a teeny bit big for me but still looks great. It just means I'll be comfortable all night and I might even dispense with the Spanx! With my 3-inch dressy sandal heels, the length is perfect. No alterations needed! Thank you, JKara, for this perfect dress and putting an end to my tortuous dress hunt. Thanks, Nordstrom, for having it available. I am going to be even more proud to be the mother of the groom!

I really like the style of this dress. I didn't follow the recommendations and ordered my usual size and had to reorder a size down. I am 5'6" and the dress was too long and would need altered. I felt comfortable in it and was happy with it except for the low back. It just showed too much skin and since I would be wearing my hair up, I knew it would not work for me. As a side note, I wish there were more sleeved dresses for plus size women in colors other than black or dark blue.
