I always thought primers were just a waste of money. I didn't think they really worked. After an hour or two of wearing my eye shadows, they would begin to stick in the creases of my eyes. But I got my make up done at a Bare Escentuals store and they used the Brightening Eyelid Primer. I really liked how smoothly it applied and golden color. The lady convinced me to get one, and I hesitantly did. Five hours later, after hanging out in the sun all day and getting sweaty, my eyes were still perfect! I've been using it everyday now, and by the end of the day, no matter what, my eyes look just like I did them in the morning! One of the best purchases I've made from BE and I will never do my eyes without it again!

Eh...not quite what I was hoping for

I absolutely love the original Eyelid Primer, and I just figured that this was the same but with a bit of sparkle. Holy Golden Stardust, Batman! This gold is waaaayyy too yellow for my fair skin. I was hoping for more of a sparkling beige, and I went with this since the reviews on the pearl shade were terrible. However, I have a feeling that I was mistaken, and should have bought that one instead. Oh well. I'm stuck with this one, so I'll at least use it until it's time to buy another. It's a bit harder to apply evenly versus the original, and you only need the tiniest amount for a subtle look. If you like the yellow-gold tinge you can definitely layer this for bolder effect. Still keeps shadows in place like the original; I just know I won't be buying this shade again.

A lot of reviewers are saying that this product is hard to blend, but I find it easier to use than the original primer. Try patting it on the lids, not rubbing. I did not find the sparkle to be overwhelming, probably because I have very fair skin. My eyeshadow color was not brightened or altered by the primer. On my undereyes, I use this primer as a base for Well-rested and it looks perfect on me. This product is a dream come true and has completely changed the look of my eyes (in a very good way!). I would recommend it to anyone with fair skin, particularly if you find the Well-rested to be a little bit too yellowish or gold for your skin.

Great primer, but...

This primer is really pretty, and I especially liked using it under brown shades and leaving it bare on my upper lid / browbone. Unfortunately, it will also make rare unlucky people like me have to go through chemical allergy patch testing and to find that they have a polyethylene glycol (PEG) allergy. After using this my eyelids were swollen, inflamed, peeling, itchy, and generally miserable. Of course this isn't the primer's fault, but I have yet to find a primer that does not have this ingredient. :( Someone please make a primer without PEG so I can wear eyeshadow again!
