This is my first pair of Red Wing Boots...9075. I was fitted properly at a Red Wing store. Boot size recommended 9 which is also my shoe size, so I bought the 9. I wear a medium weight wool/cotton blend sock. First day I wore them 8 straight hours...no problem. If a 10 is the most comfortable (gym shoe comfortable) I would give them a solid 7 right out of the box. When I took them off the first day I oiled them and "worked" the oil in with a warm hair dryer. The second day I wore them another 8 hours. They were so comfortable, and fitted my foot so well, at the end of the second day... I DID NOT WANT TO TAKE THEM OFF! I was very concerned about the break-in period and almost stayed clear of the brand because of the "harsh" reviews the Heritage Line receives. This is a great boot, high quality, and attention to detail is impressive. I am very pleased, and look forward to putting my boots on tomorrow.

Got a pair half size down after being fitted at a Red Wing store. Liked them so much I got a pair in my normal shoe size to run with a heavier sock in the cold. Great boots. Some break in period as mentioned. If you're gona drop $300 ... spend a little extra money, buy good socks and it won't be an issue.
If I know I'm on my feet all day these are a must.
This is a shoe for a mans foot, stop complaining ... and the soft sole is what makes them so comfortable

Best boots

I bought these boots in 2011. They took a little while longer than I expected to break in.
Totally worth it. They fit like a glove. I never brushed them, never wiped them if, never treated them. I worked outside mostly. I figured they were full of dirt and some oil but you can't see it cause they're black. The stitching was almost black with dirt. I decided, in 2017, to get some saddle soap and see what happens. Amazing! The stitching is white again. After scrubbing them with the soap, brushing and wiping with an old t shirt they look perfect. Nothing else. Amazing leather! Six years of working them. No treatment, no cleaning, no shoe trees and they are prefect. Definitely worth the money.

I wear these on a concrete floor in a warehouse and the thick soft soles have really taken a ton of pressure off my knees and lower back. Break in took about a week and was much easier than my Iron Rangers. The soles seem to be a bit quicker to show wear and tear but I think that comes with the extreme comfort. Will probably end up resoling these after about 12 months whereas the cork on my Rangers should take two years at least. Thanks for another great boot, Red Wing!
