I bought this kit while visiting an Art of Shaving store. The salesman demonstrated the products for me and gave me detailed instructions on how to use them. I bought the kit and thought it was a bit pricey, but these are quality materials and if used correctly will last a long long time. I get a great shave with this kit and I love the sandalwood smell. I was never one to put creams on my face but I absolutely love the after shave balm....it disappears into the skin and smells fantastic. I would recommend this product to anyone.

Shaving Novice That Enjoys Shaving Now

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] On first opening I was very impressed with the packaging. And not having a lot of room in my bathroom the case actually comes in handy to help save space while looking awesome. On first use I was slightly disappointed but it was due to my shaving ignorance. I found everything but the cream amazing. I had never used a shaving brush or thick cream before and didn't know to use warm/hot water on the brush with the cream to help lather it to the face better. After fixing my mistake I found the cream to be very nice and the brush really helped lift the hair from my face to get a closer shave. I'll definitely be purchasing this for my dad and brother!

Great at first test, better with each use

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Over the past few months, I have been experimenting with more creams for shaving as opposed to the stuff that comes in the can. When I received the opportunity to test out the offering from the Art of Shaving, I was excited. Growing up, I watched my grandfather shaving with a brush and straight blade, so it has a nostalgia.
As blades advanced to having two, three and then five blades, I often wondered why we went away from the classic brush approach for shaving cream.
The first time I used the kit, I was pretty excited to see the difference in the way that the shave felt from the oil, to brushing in the cream, closeness of the shave and then the soothing feel of the lotion after.I was instantly hooked and wondered why it took me over a decade to discover the joys of shaving the old school way (albeit with a new school blade).
One thing I must say though is that using the kit is better after the first try and gets better each try. You get a feel for what amount of each product should be used as well as ways to improve upon how you shave. I am very impressed and would highly recommend this as a graduation, Father's Day, birthday or holiday present for one of the men in your life.
