I have never shaved with a brush before, so I find it interesting, especially because I had my girlfriend watching me and reading the instructions, lol. I'm a busy guy, I don't have much free time during the week, so for me that would not be a product that I would use during the week. It's a lot easier for me just to apply a shave cream and use the razor. But, for someone that has a little more time it's worth to try it, It seems to have it a good quality and the fact that it was unscented is a big plus for me. My girlfriend said it was a cute box, that It could be something that she could give to her dad as a gift, and I agree, my first thought when I opened the box was, that its something that my father-in-law would liked it. In general, it's pretty good, I didn't feel too much difference on my skin, but my girl said it was nice and soft, It's a good quality but too many steps for a busy guy like me.

got this kit from #theartofshaving. it was unscented so i didn't have to worry about offending anyone. ha! i'm telling you, i've never had a more enjoyable shave than the first one with this kit. i felt like i was at the barber shop with all the fancy creams that felt soooo good on my skin. who knew? i guess that's why all those women go to the salon all the time. this feels like the guy version of the same sort of thing. i feel, dare i say it?, pampered! if my girl could be jealous, she would be. every piece of this kit was just the best. the fantastic brush to really work things in. the shaving cream to protect my skin, the pre-shave oil to smooth out my skin, the after-shave balm. ALL OF IT. i don't think i've ever intentionally taking this long shaving in my life. i just happily let it sit on my face and really took it all in. this is quality stuff, my brothers. quality. probably the highest quality i've experienced so far. when i'm done with this kit, i'm gonna pick myself up another one. maybe a scented one this time (with my girl's approval). score for me!!!!

High quality kit

I like this kit. It has everything you need all in one package, except a razor. It would have been better if it included one. It contained unscented pre-shave oil, shave cream, after shave and a badger shaving brush. The product was really high quality and I was impressed with it overall. I think the best thing in the kit was the brush. I think it helped get me a closer shave. I usually just use an electric, but now I might switch.

New to Razor Shaving

Well, I want to start off by saying that I have been shaving with an electric shaver for the past 13 years. Just as of late i have switched to a straight razor which i like so much better b/c of all the razor burns i receive with an electric razor. When i received the Art of Shaving Kit in the mail i was pleasantly surprised. The packaging is spot on. It looks and feels very upscale. Once i unpacked everything i completed all the steps. I was a little skeptical about putting an oil directly on my face for the first step. It really helped get my face ready for the shave. I did have to wash my hands right after because i didnt want to get anything else greasy. This was the first time i applied foam with a brush. It was very comfortable doing so. The only thing i was worried about was that it didnt seem like too much lather. I was pleasantly surprised with how close the shave was. The razor glided great with the lather. I used the after shave balm supplied after my shave. I am not a fan of the feeling it gave to my face. It seemed a little sticky. Overall i am very pleased with the kit. I have been using it for the past month and my face and neck has never felt this soft and smooth. I will continue to keep on using it and will probably purchase again when the time comes.
