Happy with the product and I have not had this good of a shave since I stopped using a double edge many years ago. Shaving is more of a celebration now. Thinking of getting the kits for my sons on their birthday.

Received The 4 Elements of a Perfect Shave kit, FREE from The Art of Shaving® the other day and have tried it twice - once at the sink and once in the shower. The kit includes pre-shave oil, shaving cream, a shaving brush and after-shave balm. As someone who doesn't have a regular shaving regimen, I was looking forward to trying this set.
The kit comes in a very sophisticated, masculine box, and the smell (though the items come "unscented") was very woodsy. I would have preferred a scent though for the pre-shave oil (which is supposed to soften the beard and improve razor glide) as it smelled like tar and was pretty thick and sticky on my skin, even in the shower. I could probably do without the pre-shave oil.
The shaving cream was very light and silky, and a little bit really does go a long way; just put a tiny amount on the wet shaving brush and work across your face for a very rich lather. The cream does not froth up like regular shaving cream, so it is much easier to get a close shave without a lot of drag. You could probably apply the cream by hand, but the badger hair brush really does work up a great lather and feels very use.
The after-shave balm was different than I expected. Most aftershaves have alcohol and a heavy scent. The Art of Shaving balm was much more soothing without a sting or harsh smell, and it moisturizes my raw skin quite well.
Though I will probably skip the sticky, stinky pre-shave oil from now on, I look forward to making these products part of my morning routine. This is a very sophisticated, pampered experience and I would recommend this as a gift (or gift yourself) for the more refined man who doesn't have daily routines but rather enjoys daily experiences.

Amazing Product Kit

Let me quickly get to the point and sum this product up: Awesome, Awesome, Awesome - I'm Hooked!!!
Now for the details: So knowing that the kit was coming soon I waited 4 Days without shaving. (Pictures to follow) I followed the direction (very limited directions for in my opinion, but I am a very technical person so take that with a grain of salt, and I have never ever used a brush to spread the lather)to the best of their completeness which were very basic, which I assume was well planned by P&G. The oil is such a cool feature and boy does it make the difference. Back to my soapbox on the simplified instructions, the brush and lather was less than stellar, or so I thought! I applied the shaving cream with the Badger Brush and it didn't go on so well and it didn't do the lather thing that I read about. So initially disappointed I carried on shaved and was feeling moderately satisfied. So I as instructed, for a closer shave re-lather and shave cross/against the grain and here is where it all changed. I washed the brush with warm water and dried it by shaking and lightly squishing the bristles, admired the shave and decided to start the cross grain shave. Grabbed the premoistened brush, dabbed the shaving cream and started to apply and OH MY MY!!!!!! It went on superbly, lathered amazingly, and the shave was super close. It lasted over 24 hours, that is the killer part, I usually only look cleanly shave for half a work day using traditional methods, not with the Art of Shaving kit! The After-Shave Balm was great, it re-hydrated the shaved skin and soothed the area very well, without any stinging or alcoholic smell. This is a must have!!

Perfect Shave System

Wow, wasn't expecting to open up a well designed and package shaving kit like this. This is a awesome treat for us men who shave. Product performance is pretty impressive. The shave oil is probably the most important part of the kit. The oil has made a world of difference I would suggest that you at least buy the pre-shave oil if nothing else. The shave cream is great. A little goes a long way and works up to a great lather. The aftershave balm is nice and absorbs quickly, and is not greasy or oily. Thank you The Art of Shaving for allowing me to try this product.
