Gives a close shave
PostedApril 1, 2015
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] It gives you a very close shave if you use all the products as they are recommended. My only negative feedback is that the shaving cream and pre shave oil stick in your razor and it is more difficult getting it out while shaving, no matter how much you run it under the faucet. The razor was relatively new, so I don't think it was my razor. I will definitely be using this again and really enjoy how close of a shave that it leaves.

WOW - Art of Shaving Kit is AMAZING!
PostedApril 1, 2015
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Let me first start at the fact they the Art of Shaving sent out their full size kit. -- Not a trial mind you, full size. That right there screams quality and confidence in their product. -- and they delivered.
Never shaved using a process like that, and the results were like a babys bottom - my face has never been this smooth. My Girlfriend was beyond amazed when she touched my face how soft it was, and not prickly at all, which happens fast with me, as I can grow a decent beard in a very short amount of time.
Checked out their website, - Was a little stunned at the price of this kit, as it doesnt seem quite pheasable to be spending that kind of cash on simply a shaving grooming kit. Dont get me wrong, it does a fantastic job, but it still is a bit pricey.

Great shave, if you have the time.
PostedApril 1, 2015
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I tried the Art of Shaving kit this morning. First I made sure I had a nice bit of stubble as I hadn't shaved since last week. After a hot shower I opened the box and began my shaving adventure.
I'm used to a quick shave cream lather, shave, then splash with some hot water. I can shave in under 5 minutes if I'm in a hurry, with the Art of Shaving, you need a bit more time than that.
The unscented pre-shave oil was a nice touch, helped to soften my skin and get the stubble ready for shaving. It wasn't too greasy, just a nice lather and was easy to wash off of my hands.
I then opened the shaving cream and applied to my face with the badger shaving brush, I'm used to just slapping on some cheap face cream and going to town, but the badger shaving brush and the unscented shaving cream was totally different. I was painting my beard with this stuff, making sure every hair was covered and then some.
The shave itself was a little cumbersome, I used a Gillette Fusion blade and a brand new cartridge, I've been using this razor forever and have always loved it. I filled the sink with hot water and dipped my razor in. Short strokes with the grain of the hair. I then dipped my razor back in the hot water to clean it and it came out all clumped up with hair and cream still. I banged it against the sink to get most of it out, but then had to turn the hot water on full to clean it out.
This was a repeated process, with every stroke my razor got full of hair and cream, then I'd have to spend a bunch of time cleaning the razor out. It normally takes 5-10 minutes for me to shave. I was pushing 20 minutes and was not even half way done.
I decided to try a new razor half way through, just some cheap disposable one blade razor that had more space between the blade and the guard so it should be easier to clean, that was no help. The cream still got caught in the razor clogging up the blade.
I went back to the fusion razor to finish up, I found a routine of shave, dip, bang against the sink then shake vigorously through the hot water would get most of the hair and shaving cream out. Because of the clogs I found that I had to go over spots more than once to get all the shaving cream off my face.
After completing the shave I cleaned the excess cream off my face and applied the after-shave balm. I love this stuff, it makes all the difference. I only needed a little bit to cover my face and now I'm nice and smooth and not dry at all.
This is a really good shave, I don't have any rough patches, no cuts, no razor burn. If only the clumping would be better this would be a 5 star product. Great gift if you have a high tech razor that won't clump.

Effective and Smooth
PostedApril 1, 2015
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Overall, the product was great. I was not expecting the pre-shave oil to be as slick as it was, but it did a great job of smoothing the hair our for less irritation. It also says it's unscented, but has a bit of a sweet smell to it. The shaving cream did not get as foamy as I was expecting, but, with the use of the brush that was extremely soft, I was able to conserve the cream by only using a small portion to cover my face. This would come in handy for use over a long period of time. The after-shave went on smooth, did not smell and had quick absorbtion.
