Unscented Art of Shaving
PostedJune 30, 2014
Pleasantly surprised. I haven't shaved with a razor in years. Usually i just use and electric buzzer. My favorite was the brush. I think it would be a good gift for someone who has everything.

Awesome Kit
PostedJune 30, 2014
I am really enjoying The Art of Shaving Kit. It really does make shaving into a type of "art". The kit is fabulous. I love the brush and the lotions. I would definitely purchase one of these kits and I will be replacing the products when I have used them up. The routine is very easy to follow and leaves my face baby smooth. I love it!

manual shaving as opposed to electric
PostedJune 30, 2014
I've been an electric shaver my entire life, but I love going to the barber and getting a hot shave. This kit really feels like a professional's product in the box and I really enjoyed it.
I usually default for the electric just because it's easier to trim around the facial hair I keep (chin area). But lathering up with the oil and then the cream makes a big difference to me - I had never done that before. I also really enjoyed the after shave cream, no burning or skin irritation after.
I used the badger brush, nice to have, but I do think it smells funny once it gets wet. That's the only negative I have about this kit. I'd use the oil, cream and after shave all day, but I would skip using the brush just because of its scent.

A True Manly Experience
PostedJune 30, 2014
All too often men forget they too deserve luxury and comfort. The Art of Shaving kit I received was a reminder that shaving is an art, that taking time for yourself is a necessity, and that the proper tools make all the difference.
The pre-shave oil was a great precursor of what was to come. I liberally applied the oil to the toughest of areas first: creases of throat/neck, jaw line, then finally mustache. The oil coated the hair and skin with a smooth, softening glaze. You can tell from the start it was going to help with drag and irritation. I am pleased to say it did both; my baby face didn't have razor burn or ingrown hair.
The shaving cream was reminiscent of a fluffy Crisco, and I mean that in the best possible way. In conjunction with the badger shaving brush, application was smooth and thorough. I could feel the bristles lifting the hair from my face and the thick shaving cream holding the hair up - this is important for the shaving process. In the end, I was very pleased with ease of clean up as well.
The after-shave balm was soothing and left my skin feeling refreshed, yet surprisingly not oily. The after care for shaving is just as important as the act itself - don't skip it!
I used the typical three blade razor for my first shave, but much prefer using The Art of Shaving Chrome Long Handle Safety Razor - it was amazing. I was very pleased with my experience and will NEVER go back to the "hurry up and get it done" mentality. The Art of Shaving has introduced me to the shave of my grandfather and his fathers before him - and for that, I am thankful!
