I was looking for some new Docs and found these purple shoes just in time for Valentine’s Day. I LOVE the color. The purple seems a little deeper than the catalog photo. Maybe eggplant, which I’m happy with. My feet are wide and hard to fit. These shoes are stiff, but very comfortable and true to size.

I wanted to love these but they were just too big. I even purchased Dr. Martens insoles to get a better fit but I’m they were still too big.

Great shoes, inconsistent sizing

I love Docs and have worn them for years. I have always worn a 7UK, and that's what I ordered this time too. Well, they are marked 7UK but they're pretty big, I think they fit like an 8UK. This is the first pair I've ever had that are marked Made In Lao Por, so maybe the sizes vary from factory to factory? I'm going to keep them anyway, and hope I don't regret it. The purple is a nice color, and they're great looking, classic shoes.

Wanted to Love These, But the Fit Was All Wrong

I've never purchased a pair of Dr. M's before, but I've always loved the aesthetic of the thick oxfords and boots, especially in this deliciously rich purple color. The color and style is just as stunning and cool in person. However, the fit and design were not a good fit for my feet. I usually wear a 12.5 to 13 W in women's footwear. These were tight in the toe box and around the metatarsis. At the same time, the gaped weirdly around my ankle. This made the shoe simultaneously too tight and too unstructured, slipping around even when I walked just a couple feet to see how they wore. Although I wanted to love these shoes, I've learned that Dr. Martens just aren't for me. If you have worn Dr. M's before and the fit works well for your particular feet, I imagine these would be a good shoe for you.
