Fantastic Shoe!

I LOVE my McTavish Wingtips in natural color. These shoes are incredibly comfortable and fit like a glove (like all of my other AE shoes).
This new "rough" style goes perfectly with jeans and with casual business attire, too. I use them at least twice a week and have had many compliments from wearing them. I like them so much that I find myself going for them in the morning more often than any other shoes in my rotation. I couldn't' be happier!
Allen Edmonds shoes are slowly replacing all the other shoes in my closet. That is how loyal I have become to this great shoe company!

the left shoe!

The left shoe came with the tongue that doesn't seemed to be sawn on properly. (See photo). The left tongue was crumpled up when the shoes came out of the box, and the above-referenced defect was more noticeable when the tongue was straightened out. And, the top front stitching was coming loose already on the left shoe.
The unevenness of the left shoe is not limited to the tongue. The left shoe also does not have the center of the shoe aligned properly. This is noticeable compared to the right shoe. The left shoe appears to be even narrower than the right shoe. The right one looks and feels fine. The left one looks bad and wears even worse. Sigh.
I received them last Saturday; wore them for the first time on Tuesday. Called AE and got the instructions to return them for an evaluation (& hopefully a remedy), and I sent them back via UPS on Weds. Today is Friday, and according to the UPS, it's still en route.
The shoes look simply amazing in my opinion, and I did my best to overlook any minor issues. However, loose threads, uneven construction, and uncomfortableness just could not be overlooked. The right shoe is great...

I've worn Italian brands for years. One day at the office, a coworker's shoe stopped me in my tracks. I inquired, and he told me that they were Allen Edmonds. After research of the company, I decided to become a AE shoe man. And so, I ordered the Mctavish, Route 100, the Bayfield, and I am seriously considering the Dalton and the Strand. I got the call from home that I received the Mctavish. Got home, opened the box, and immediately noticed a deep scratch on one of the shoes! So they had to be sent back. Route 100's came, and they're in decent condition, minus a slight issue with the stitching. Bayfield's look amazing. So this leads me back to my point, the Mctavish. Hopefully, it was just a one time occurrence. I hope the QC issues get fixed by the folks over at AE. I love what the company stands for.
