I was very disappointed, tried them on when I got them and seemed to fit just right so I used them outside the carpet and within 20 minutes the pain on the toe area was intolerable. They also slip a bit on the back and end up hurting my heel area.
Overall I had a bad experience and will have to give them away since I don't think i will be using them.
My size in the other shoes is 7EEE
They look really good but the pain is too much.
Very unhappy especially since they are not cheap.

The Norwich does have a thick double sole which sometimes requires a little extra time to become more flexible and move with your foot. That might be contributing to the heel pain you describe. Jonesing for the Classic American Shoe

Purchased on Newbury St., Boston, while on a trip. Staff was helpful and knowledgeable. Had to ship shoes since size was not available. Shoes arrived but had some trepidation due to reviews on this site. Apparently I had nothing to worry about as they fit well and are consistently well made and crafted. I look forward to first wearing.

I see lots of comments regarding lack of comfort. I had the same experience at first. But one has to remember these shoes have double oak soles. They take time to break in.
I get more compliments from these shoes than any other. I'm now looking at a second pair before the first pair fully wears out.

Very disappointed - beautiful shoes, horribly uncomfortable

I've had my eye on the Norwich for a year now and finally decided to buy them about 6 weeks ago. Went into the store and had them fitted. These are my very first pair of AEs and they look amazing with jeans.
However, at this point I don't think I can wear them anymore. By 10am my feet are in horrible pain from pinching around the toe area and I spend as much time as I can at my desk with my shoes off.
This has been a very disappointing experience since AE has such a great reputation for making quality, beautiful, comfortable shoes. I have no idea what happened with this model, but they are so uncomfortable.
I had thought about buying other pairs of AE but at this point I'm reluctant to gamble that my next pair will be a different experience.
