Comfortable dress boots, almost as comfy as cronmoks
PostedFebruary 14, 2017
These boots are comfortable right off the bat. I walked 12hr days with them twice for trade shows I've attended.
While I wish they came with v-tread tapsoles, the leather soles appears to be able to last a while. I'd just like to be able to wear these in the wet if the time comes but I guess I can wait until they wear out to get them resoled. The medallion toe cap is a nice touch to an otherwise understated boot. I've worn them casual and dressed up so they can work for many occasions. There are some stress marks where the leather has stretched where the toe bends when I knelt down a few times but nothing a polish couldn't handle. Overall, happy I got these to add to my AE collection.

d have to have the "shoe person" here in Olympia stretch the width a bit, as the boot seemed a bit narrower than the usual D

Very nice dress boot and as usual with Edmond's products , high quality too. Great fit , lighter than I expected. I'm very satisfied with the Fifth Street Dress Boot.

Fifth in streets, first in my collection...

I put off getting these boots because I was afraid. I didn't know who I would be if I wore a boot more suited to J.P. Morgan and Henry Ford than to an actor and theater director. I read every review on here-all of them. Most of them twice. I considered the negative reviews and the positive ones. I hesitated. And then I just bought them...
Many reviews talk about the width of the boot. I have the Strand, Strawfut and two pairs of Park Avenues-all on the 65 last I believe.. In the Strawfut I wear an 8.5D, In the Strand and Park Avenues I wear an 8EE. So with the Fifth Avenue I went with an 8.5E. And it is perfect. I have lots of room in the toe box and the boot is not tight across the vamp and I am most comfortable wearing them twelve hours a day. The leather is so soft and the brown is a a delightful "coffee with just a little milk" shade. The workmanship on this boot is magnificent. The sewing on the upper is flawless. The sole stitching is also flawless as is the leather lining stitching. The only possible concern is the right heel will move a little if I hold it and rock it side by side. Like a loose tooth. It is very subtle but there is movement. If it fails on me I will send it back to Allen Edmonds for new heels. They did a great job recrafting the heels on my Walden loafers.
So who am I when I wear this boot? I feel sorta timeless actually. I will say that the shoes look nice against the light brown carpets of my 2001 Jaguar XJ8...
