Based on the picture, the vamp does not appear to be short. But I was surprised when I received the shoes because the vamp was too short. The image of the shoes on the website was quite deceiving. I would not have ordered it had I known that the vamp was short.
However, the leather of the shoes is of excellent quality.

I may be the only one, judging by the earlier two reviews, but I love this shoe. After a 3 day break-in period (longer than I had expected for loafers) these shoes feel wonderful -- like sandals or casuals, and I have to remind myself that they really are quite dressy. I know I'm breaking some fashion rules, but they even look good with a suit.
I'll post again if I experience the manufacturing issues the earlier two posters noted. However, I am confident that if I do have any such problems, AE will make it right, which is why I bought these notwithstanding the earlier reviews.

This is an excellent shoe I tried on a friends and they fit well without even being molded to my feet!! This was a MUST purchase for me!
