Great American Shoe!!!
PostedNovember 5, 2013
Well made, fit and feel is great, nice thicker soul and heel, soft leather and great look. The Walnut Calf is a "wow" factor with olive, brown and navy suits as well as jeans.

Excellent shoe, be careful about walnut color though

I have the Jefferson Wingtip in Walnut Calf. After several trials I am satisfied with the fit(8.5E) though I normally wear 9.5D since they do run long and narrow. My biggest complaint is the Walnut calf skin catches ugly spots when soaked even for a few minutes and these don't go away no matter how much polish you put on them. It should come with a warning or something. It's a beautiful and very comfortable shoe, but once you've those spots you don't want to wear it unless you're wearing them in dark. It kinda defeats the purpose of getting the shoe in Walnut. I've Macneil and Park Ave as well but the Jeffersons are my favorite. The others are just not as comfortable for a long days wear. Here's hoping this warning will help other buyers.

For the price - bordering on shoddy
PostedJuly 31, 2013
A perfect example of "could have been, but is not.". The shoes (walnut in my case) do not merit the price asked. The welt gutters of the sole are rough, the leather in places torn rather than cut. The leather of the shoes upper is dyed unevenly, with streaks that appear as if the consequence of an accidental application of an oily substance. The rear of the toe box received too much glue on the right shoe. As the result, there is an unseemly mound-like protrusion to which the gaze is automatically drawn. The left shoe is marginally better.
Attempts to bull the shoes to high gloss (slightly darker Meltonian) resulted in an awkward loss of the dye and prominent discoloration along the edges of the wing: while the sides of the toe box acquired the required luster, the top and front remain dull, and no effort seems to be able to change that.
Altogether, the shoe suffers badly of poor workmanship, indifferent quality control, and a prominently lackluster attention to detail (e.g., the serial/size numbers sprayed with too much white paint that consequently started to run.) In summary, it could have been a splendid shoe, a worthy rival to Aldens or the classical English shoes. Instead, it is a very expensive product of average or even less than average quality that is absolutely NOT worth the price.

My first pair of Allen Edmonds - wow!
PostedJuly 19, 2013
It's hard to beat a good pair of classy wingtips and the Jeffersons are king. I had this belief that dress shoes can never be comfortable but not any more. I can wear my Jeffersons all day without any issues. The calfskin outer and lambskin inner are both soft and supple. I can't say enough good things about this shoe. It's the best shoe purchase I've ever made.
