The Wingtip of Wingtips
PostedMarch 13, 2013
I am new to Allen Edmonds. I always dismissed the brand due to the price, but we all know the cliche - you get what you pay for. And these shoes are no exception. I am a 9D and recently obtained a new pair of Jeffersons in black. The quality of the materials (calf skin) and the exquisite craftsmanship and attention to detail will please the pickiest of any of my fellow American brothers. The shoes were true-to-size in fit. The Jefferson has a substantial sole, thicker than the McAllister, and yet, believe it or not, the shoes have been very easy on the feet. Shoes of this caliber typically "break YOU in", but these have been a true pleasure and it was unexpected how flexible the sole has been. You will truly love the wingtip details - the serrated edges, everything is "the real thing". These are wingtips that other makers only aspire to make - that's what I really like about Allen Edmonds - when you are tired of "playing around" with the wannabes and step up to the plate and get yourself some Edmonds, you will only then know the truth, and the truth will definitely set you free. One of the other great things I like about these is the quality of the leather. You know how a high quality leather jacket makes its unique "leather noises"? The Jeffersons do this as well, just like a fine, high quality leather jacket - not squeaking mind you, just that unique sound that only high quality leather makes - is music to my ears. AE makes one notch above these, the Cambridge in shell cordovan, but the Jefferson will really make you smile.

Great looking and comfortable pair of shoes
PostedMarch 7, 2013
I purchased the Jefferson in both black and walnut. There is no question these shoes are of the highest quality in terms of materials and craftsmanship. The leather is soft and molds to the foot almost immediately. The soles are composed of a thicker leather than in AE traditional line, which adds to the support of the shoe. The entire shoe is lined with soft lambskin leather, which is also a step or two up from the traditional line. One aspect to the leather used in these shoes is that it does not crease like the calfskin used in most dress shoes--even high end shoes; it seems to hold its shape very well. If you need a shoe with better support for your feet than AE's other models, I would certainly give these a try. I generally require orthotics with most dress shoes, and I do not use them at all with the Independence line from AE.

Most Comfortable Shoes I Own
PostedFebruary 25, 2013
I cannot say enough about these shoes. These shoes are incredibly comfortable and they look very sharp. I have a pair of McAllisters in Black and these Jeffersons in Walnut, and as much as I like my McAllisters; my Jeffersons are my favorite pair. I highly recommend these shoes.

Worth every penny

I have had this shoe for about a year now. It's by far my most comfortable pair. You can really tell the upgrade in leather. Shoe broke in right away. If you got a chance try a pair on. I was reluctant to spend the money on something other then shell and glad I did
