Creasing around back due to stretch
I found these wonderful shoes after a long long pilgrimage of online forums, reviews and visiting various stores in Melbourne.
I was nervous to spend so much, but I really wanted a dress boot that could become a staple of my fashion, would last a long time and suit all occasions. Reviews and photos indicated this was the boot!
I painstakingly measured my foot against the online sizing guide - my right foot was just on 11.5 and my left just under, so I ordered a size 12E, since I also wear orthotics. When the boots arrived, they fit quite well out of the box and I received some compliments on the first day of wearing them, which I was very pleased about. For the first few wears, they were quite sore, particularly the left, as the leather was breaking in. However, after about 4 wears, they magically became very comfortable and I could really start to appreciate the quality of the shoe and I was very happy with my purchase.
Overall, this is an almost perfect shoe and lives up to its high expectations.
However, I have worn them on about 10 occasions now and I find the leather is still stretching quite a bit, to the point where there are creases forming around the back of the shoe, which I am worried will cause damage to the shoe after a much shorter period than I had hoped to care for these shoes for. This can be seen in the attached image. So, I have some slight buyer's remorse that I didn't go for a size smaller (size 11) given the amount of stretch!
I couldnt find any AE shoes in Melbourne to try on before purchasing, so my advice for other shoppers is to definitely do whatever you can to try a pair on before ordering online, even better if it is a display model that has been worn a few times to reflect the amount of stretch. Overall, still an awesome boot, though I'm not sure if the other AE shoes (non-boots) would stretch the same.
If I can get my sizing right, I'll definitely be investing in more AE shoes in future. Michael

I got my Daltons, which are also my first pair of Allen Edmunds footwear, as a Christmas present. They fit more like a pair of boots than a pair of shoes, but that's exactly what I was looking for. They're a bit narrow, but nothing that shouldn't work out after breaking them in more. Overall I'm quite happy and will definitely buy other products from AE.

I have been in the market for a lace-up dress boot for some time now. I approach my purchases as investments, so settling for the first dress boot I came across, or tried on, wasn't going to be an option. Knowing how often I would wear these boots and in situations from casual to dressy, they had to be the 'right' boot.
I've grown-up with Allen Edmonds shoes, so I know them to be the American leading brand for classically styled dress shoes. However, it's not just the classic style which has kept this brand going for over 90 years, it's because AE is a company that not only produces a product of unparalleled craftsmanship but they stand behind them. How many companies can you recall that still do the same today?
With that being said, I work in the design industry in Manhattan with an eye for fashion. What has kept me coming back to AE has been their new wave of modernly designed classically styled shoes. These Dalton Wingtip Lace-Up Oxfords are my case in point.
I am CONSTANTLY getting complements on these Daltons. Their length and width are true to size and the leather is breaking in beautifully. The neck of the boot is wide enough to comfortably slip on and molds to your ankles when laced so there is never any catching or bunching on your pants. Whether I wear these boots casually with jeans, at the office in slacks and a tweed blazer or freshly polished with a navy suit for an evening out, these wingtip oxfords always look incredible.
If you're looking for a pair of timeless, quality shoes that are fashionable enough to garner complements... I suggest you have a look at these Daltons and a number of other styles Allen Edmonds has to offer.
