Prosbeautiful, ticking, comfortable
Upon first glance, I thought the aesthetics of this timepiece would be the most important part of my purchase. It is, after all, a beautiful watch.
The black face has a nice sheen to it. It is strong and sturdy. The brown leather strap that meets it is soft and inviting. The watch is a mix of stern, solid design met with comfort and familiarity. If I am a high-school student the watch is a young, cool English teacher who lets curse words fly in the classroom but doesn't accept anything less than your best effort, which is always an unusual dynamic but it seems to work.
It wasn't until I set the time that I noticed something special about this watch. I cranked the dial to 8:32pm ((my phone read 8:31pm and I figured by the time I get to the right number a minute or so will have passed by (It took at most 8 or 9 seconds to place the hands on the right time and I wondered why I thought it would take so long) so my watch is just under a minute fast, which I actually believe gives me an advantage when someone asks what time it is. I will say, "Oh, it's 4:44." and someone else will look at their smartphone and say "Actually, it's 4:43" and I'll say "Oh really? Look again." and they will look again and it will be 4:44 and they will quietly put their phone away.)) and the watch started to tick.
But the word "tick" here doesn't just mean that the second hand flicked itself to the next available visual interval every consecutive second, I mean it does mean that but it doesn't just mean that. When I say "tick" I mean an audible metronome. I mean that when I pushed that little dial in, an inescapable and binding countdown sprang up and made itself heard. "Tick......Tick......Tick....."
It was now around 8:33pm and I can hear this watch ticking out loud and I think to myself "This apartment is pretty quiet." I put the watch down and go into the other room where my stereo is and I put on some music. I come back into the kitchen where all the packaging is strewn about on top of my oven and I pick the watch back up and I can hear the ticking over the music. It almost seems louder than before.
My house is just down the street from an old folks' home, and so every couple hours or so there's an ambulance or fire truck or police car driving down my street with their sirens blasting. Well a fire truck or ambulance or something drove by outside and as the siren crescendoed past towards my house I could still hear this watch ticking, at least I swear sure I could. Maybe it's just like when you get a song in your head and you can't get it out, maybe I have this ticking in my head and whenever I hear the actual sound from the watch it reapplies itself as a verse in my brain and later my brain thinks it needs to respond with the chorus.
Regardless, it's a beautiful watch. I just can't get the ticking out of my head.
I would recommend buying this watch, but only if you're prepared to think about your own mortality and how every second that ticks by is gone forever and if you focus on the previous tick or the one before that then before long your life is a giant pile of loud ticks.
I also think the two leather loops that keep the excess strap in place is a very good feature.

Prosrugged, elegant
The leather strap looks awesome with this color combo and the backlight is fantastic. I own a black and yellow Easy Reader Limited and this one is much easier to read and has a much more casual feel to it.

I received this watch last week in the mail and I love it. The color of the strap is gorgeous and it matches everything in my closet.

Love this watch. Goes beautifully with all the blacks and browns of Fall. Amazing, functional accessory for Jeans and Boots & sweaters. Easy to read at a glance. Nicely made for a very affordable price.
