My husband has been wearing Reef's for 6 years now and these are his 4th pair (he wears them year round, every day, walking many miles in them) over the years. The patterning is a nice update over the former all black models, and the bottle opener is actually quite useful on those warm summer nights for craft beer enthusiasts like ourselves. My husband is definitely a big and tall guy, his first few pairs were a size 12 which fit but he always felt he had to break them in and stretch them out. I purchased a 13 in this pair and he said the fit is perfect, as if he had already broken them in (he has a wide foot that the larger size accommodated much more easily). We often walk our local bike trail several miles per day in the summer and always wear our Reef's (I have a leather bottom jute pair that are on year 2), we even wear them while riding our bikes for 20 miles on the trail as well! When we lived in California, these were the perfect beach shoe as well. My husband loves his Reef's so much that he wears them in the winter, in the snow and ice, and around the house every day. He refuses to wear any other shoe (other than his Doc Marten's for 'dressy' occasions) because these literally mold to his foot and are incredibly durable, each pair lasting about two years, only made unusable by the toe strap breaking on one of the sandals. He has so many pairs that he can usually make a whole pair again with the old ones when or if that does happen. He loves this new Fanning so much that we also bought the Fanning Leather for a more formal style that can be dressed up a bit, also fantastic!
If you're on the fence because of the price, make the investment. You will be so glad you did when you only have to purchase one pair of sandals that will last solidly for two years. $25 per YEAR of wear is a great deal, cant be beaten even with off brand shoe prices. This item is a gift for someone. However, I have owned Reefs in the past and from viewing this item can tell these are quality and will last a long time.
My son received these as a gift for his birthday from his aunt his freshman year of college. He is now a senior and after wearing them almost every day, they are still in good shape but wants a back up pair! I am sure the bottle opener on the bottom has come in handy a few times too!!
