Too narrow

This is my first pair of AE's I've owned (tried to own as of writing this). This review is mainly about the fit of the shoe. The quality is top notch, and I've had no problem exchanging one pair already, so my dealings with AE have been favorable thus far.
Interested in AE shoes, I have tried several pairs of 10.5 D's on at department stores (after a long day of walking, with socks I would wear normally). They have all fit the same, very well, very comfortably.
I initially purchased a pair of these loafers in a 10.5 D. Very tight. Exchanged for an E with no issue (good service).
Figuring I might just need to break them in, I've been wearing the shoes at home for a couple weeks now. The toe box is very tight at my pinky toe to the other side, and the 10.5 feels a tad short.
I am looking to exchange them for a pair of 10.5 EEE (I've not worn size wide in several other pairs of quality American footwear), so in my experience I do not have wide feet, or if not that, a size 11 E.
Short Summary: I don't think that the wider forefoot statement is accurate.
Again, my review is based only on the fit. I do think that these are a quality pair of shoes.

Mr. Travel Light

You only need this pair of shoes for travel: looks good with a suit and with jeans. Durable, comfortable and holds it shine.

This shoe has been and excellent performer. It has style. Looks good with a suit or in a casual setting with jeans. Which makes it an excellent choice for travel in that you only need to wear one pair of shoes since it looks nice for all occasions one experiences while on a trip.
Impressed with the durability. I wore the Patriot heavily but finally needed new soles and heels. Had AE refurbish them and when the shoes were returned and they looked like new!

While I like the style and the appearance of the shoe as I have worn them for about a couple of months now I can say that I am pretty disappointed. After owning several pairs of AE over the years (and going through several refinishing processes) this is by far the most subpar pair of shoes I have purchased.
1.) As another customer mentioned the heel squeaks. It's annoying and it makes it feel/seem like a cheap pair of shoes
2.) I didn't notice when I purchased, but as I have shined them since wearing the leather feels and appears cheap relative to my other AE shoes
3.) And worse just the other day I noticed that the rubber on the heel has started to pull away
All these reasons lead me to believe that this is an inferior AE shoe relative to other offerings. I wish it were different, as I do like the style and the fit is very good, but I just can't see myself purchasing another AE loafer anytime soon. I'll stick with the oxfords.

Great shoe. I bought the the Patriot in brown 1st and liked the shoe so much, purchsed it in black as well. Works well with jeans and khakis as well as with slacks.
