The Patriot is one of the best from AE. Handsome, sophisticated and comfortable. Because it is a lasted shoe, there is a break in period. If AE later offers more colors, all the better. A great shoe from a great company.

Poor fit and quality

I am an owner of at least 15+ pairs of Allen Edmonds shoes. I am a true fan of the quality, fit, and overall look of your products.

I just purchased a pair of Patriot shoes. Overall, the quality is poor. It seems like the quality of the leather has decreased from shoes I have purchased in the past. (I also noticed this to a lesser extent with a pair of Sanfords I purchased last year.)
The quality of the craftsmanship has also appeared to have declined from the past.

The fit of these shoes is horrible. Incredible pain over the top of my foot. The top box is very tight and uncomfortable. It seems like the last of this model is off kilter.

The overall quality does not live up to the price. For the price of the shoes I expect better from AE.

Painful

I love the looks of the shoe, but the construction does not seem to be on par with other AE shoes. My first pair was returned when the heel came apart after a few wears. (replaced, no questions asked) I have worn the 2nd pair for several days and still can not bear them for more than a few hours. Length & width seem to be fine but the vamp on one shoe seems off and causes pain on the top of my foot. The pain lasts for a few days so i can't wear them again for about a week. Very pleased with my other AE shoes but have been greatly disappointed in the Patriot.

Overall a very good shoe

I like the styling of this shoe. It fits very well with either casual or dressier clothes. I did go to the E to get a comfortable fit. My only complaint is the one that others have as well: The Squeak! I see in AE's canned replies that they have changed the heel insert but that doesn't help all of us who already own the shoe. AE, rather than posting the usual boiler plate reply, tell us how you're going to fix this for us. I'd appreciate a direct reply at the least.
