Very Uncomfortable

Most AE shoes fit comfortably from the start. These were so painful in the top of the arch and heel that I couldn't keep them on my feet.

A hole in the bottom after 9 months?

Having only purchased my first pairs last year, I'm new to AE. I bought these and two pairs of cap toe oxfords. The oxfords have worn well, but the loafers have worn through on the bottom of my right foot. They were probably worn 1-2x per week and purchased last May... so I figure no more than 50-60 times worn.
I expected to not have a hole in my shoe after such low usage.

Interesting fit....

Finally got to try this one - maybe I should call this the "last stop". Want to preface this by saying that many, if not most of the loafers by AE cause issues for me. I have an arch/instep issue in general so I have been looking for the best fit to accommodate this, and with loafers it is tough. I can't wear anything on the 79, most recently tried the Randolph & Cody - everything on this last is too long, bad toebox, heel too wide. The Nashua on the 114 isn't bad, but the top of my feet are aching by the end of the day. Others on the 114 won't work - the hard leather/band is too much on things like the Maxfield. The Italian collection loafers #those that I can actually fit without being super long, such as the Lucca or Verona# are pretty good, I still ache after a day's wear but not too bad. Tried the Presidio on the 222, great fit but the arch issue was moderate. I have sort of "gravitated" towards the 97, because the fit of the Grayson #and its older brothers like the Manchester & Jermyn# leave my arch alone, but they are far from perfect - the heel is humongously wide and the toebox is cramped. I tried the Dornoch & McGraw on the 234, thinking this would correct the toebox, but these are just huge everywhere, toebox, heel, everything. The 145-last driving mocs are ok, but I just sort of wear them to knock-around, nothing too serious. Did not get to try the Rye on the 2592 so can't comment on that. Did try the Ventura Highway at one point and the fit wasn't bad, but there was significant bowing in the sides and I couldn't have gone down in length any shorter.
So, that brings me to the Patriot. The Patriot was like the magic loafer fit. Toebox was good, not super huge. Heel was normal, not super wide like the Grayson. Spot on. Just wish it wasn't so bland looking - come on, why not more styles on the 606?
Word of warning on this - I view this as the loafer to try if nothing else works for you. I'm sure most people would complain about a narrow heel or bad fit on the instep, but if you are out of options, this is definitely for you.

Superb Shoe

I own 10 pair of AE's and was trying to find a comfortable loafer. I cam across the Patriot in burgundy and tried them on and bought them. I have to say next to my Park Avenue's, this is the most comfortable shoe I own. The fit and feel are tremendous and I have to stop myself from wearing them everyday. Great shoe!
