No break in period. Love the look and fit great my usual 9E I was hesitant at first when I saw some other reviews , but it's turned out to be the best loafer I have ever owned, fit and finish. Wish there were more colors and other shoes made in this last.

This is my first pair of AE's. I truly like the look and craftsmenship. I have an unusual problem with my right foot which requires careful fitting. The sales person in NOLA was very patient with me. We tried multiple styles until we finally hit the Patriot. The initial fit was fine though a bit tight in the box. I was assured they would stretch and mold to my foot. I followed her instructions to use the conditioner to speed up the molding inside and out. I wore them six or seven times and by the end of the day I was in real pain. I returned to the store and left them to be stretched for 72 hours. After picking them up the fit had improved, some, they were a bit more comfortable. I have now worn them 12-15 times and they are finally beginning to soften and mold. They are not the most comfortable shoe I have ever owned but if they continue to soften and mold to my foot I believe they will be just fine. Would I order again? Don't know to be honest. I need a pair of black loafers and as stated earlier, I like the design very much but other AE loafers weren't good for my foot. Perhaps after several more times in the shoe I will consider another pair. However, knowing the pain I endured breaking this pair in, is making me think twice before investing in another pair.

I purchase a new pair of these every 18 months and will continue to do so as long as Allen Edmonds makes them.

Due to their high quality and craftsmanship, I have been an Allen Edmunds loyalist for years. I have a narrow foot, with low arch and wide toe area (11-1/2 B). These shoes, made on this last, are perfect for me! Most comfortable loafers I've ever had in my 60 years. And that says a lot for a guy whose shoe buying rivals his wife's!!
