Big Mistake

I read the reviews and took a leap anyway. Big mistake. These are the most uncomfortable AE shoes I've ever purchased. Very stiff through the instep and uncomfortable to wear. I should have had the Randolph's custom made in the dark drown that I'm seeking. Better still, offer the Randolph in dark brown.

I've noticed a decrease in overall quality the past few years. I hope this trend is reversed.

Most uncomfortable shoe I have ever owned

Long time AE customer and really thought I would love these shoes. They do look good but that's were it ends. Think long and hard about these. I am a standard 10D in a lace up and 91/2E in loafer. Got these in 91/2E and they slip on fine but for some reason have no give in the front area. It feels like the soles are made of wood (if that makes any sense). Really disappointed. The AE store clerk was so helpful, I hate to take them back now.

The perfect loafer

I was hesitant after reading some of the reviews - my salesman explained that on a loafer, the fit of the shoe must be just right to be comfortable. It turned out that I needed a B width for my narrow and flat foot. Honestly, the shoes were pretty tight for the first few days but after about 7 days in them they fit like a glove, totally comfortable and no heel slippage. I'm glad they worked out because the style and look is exactly what I wanted in a loafer. I highly recommend the Patriot, just make sure your figment is spot on.

I just received my Patriots. I have a number of AE shoes, but never any built on this last. I was concerned, but when they arrived the fit is perfect!
Just pure class. Another AE classic!
