first pair of ae's and love them

cole haan and frye have been my brands of choice to date and got the ridgeways a week ago. these are a different level of quality, in a positive way, than prior shoes i've owned.
i was a bit concerned as ae's have a reputation of being hard on the feet. i haven't experience this at all. these fit my foot very well, although i haven't done a whole lot of walking in them.
these are definitely 'flashier' than your run of the mill wingtips, so not a traditional dress shoe.

Today I received my second pair of Ridgeways , the black and red one. This shoe is hard so it takes a little to break it, but once is broken it is unbelievably comfortable . I would advise AE to create a line of Ridgeways!
I hope that they return but at least I have both!

Great Color and Crossover

I bought the Black & Red. The first reason I bought these for the design; the leather, wingtip, split reverse welt, and sole. and 2nd...colors! These broke in within minutes for me. Because of the sole they have a bit of a lugged sole boot feel. Still, they fit and feel great.
I'm a huge Chicago Blackhawks fan (since Stan, Hull, & Mags#. At work we dress business, Fridays - business/casual. Most folks, myself included, wear attire #jerseys/t-shirts# promoting their team, but because of my position, we cannot. So...I have some custom made dress shirts to skirt the policy, and no-one can touch the shoes! I always receive compliments in and out of the office on these shoes.
In the office, I wear the shoes with black wool dress pants #cuffed#, and jeans out of the office. I even have a belt to match #yes AE, don't ask#.
The 65 last is my perfect form to fit. 8-1/2 E with a heavy soul #double) and reverse split welt, 8 EEE on singles with a normal welt design.
I am a bit of a AE connoisseur. They have perfected the men's shoe with Form, Fit, Function, and Comfort! I own many pair of AE lace-ups and a few slip-ons, and I'm very retentive on keeping them looking new. Some are 20 years old, and look new. I just had my Nassau recrafted, and they feel and look brand new.

I have a pair of these in red and black and they are extremely good looking shoes. However, after wearing them once I realized how long these shoes run (and 2 other pair that I have). Since they are too big they don't break at the correct spot when I walk and they have caused me back pain.
If possible, make sure you get fit and/or buy your shoes from a bricks and mortar store. Although I love the looks of these shoes there is no way that I will be able to wear them. These have been added to my Allen Edmonds collection....too bad it's three pair that I will not be able to wear.
