Never owned a boot before but this pair is simply great. Comfortable, stylish, great with slacks and casual attire.

Great pair of medium duty boots

I'd say these are perfect Seattle winter boots. For those of you who don't know the Seattle climate, that means lots of light rain and puddles with a little mud here and there, but not a lot of torrential downpours or snow. Pair these with some wool socks and you'll have the perfect shoes for that climate. I've worn these in the snow before, and they aren't terrible, but they are really not meant for that. They are not bad for light hiking - think more walking to and from a cabin, not trudging through the woods.
The pictures make them look pretty dressy, and while I suppose everyone has a different definition of dressed up, I'd say these are more of a casual boot. They are pretty bulky and wouldn't look good with dress clothing. Definitely a jeans and casual shirt kind of boot.
So, if you're looking for something medium duty that looks good and will keep you dry through light rain, these are for you. If you want dressy, or if you want hardcore, you'd probably be better off with something different.
