Love these boots. Quality and style wrapped up in one. I've received many complements wearing these with blue jeans.

Comfortable, great boot that runs true to size. Almost too comfortable, the sole is a bit too cushy for my likening (which is a personal preference, not a negative).

This was my first AE boot purchase. I ordered the brown long branch. For size reference, I wear an 8.5 EEE in the AE strand, so I ordered the same for the long branch boot. I like wearing thin athletic socks and I found the toe box slightly cramped. I wore the boots for a few hours around the house and used shoe trees to gently stretch the toe box. After a few times the width stretched slightly and fit to how i like them.
Construction was on point. I noticed that my pair of boots had the vibram sole, not the advertised XL sole. I ordered two pairs of boots, so I accidentally got to see the two outer soles. Honestly, the vibram sole is a bit more dense than the XL sole and seems like it will last longer. So, I sent the XL soled boots back.
It is a beautiful boot and I can see these worn with dark denim or khaki pants easily. It is a slightly dressier version of a combat boot because of the lug sole, but I got them for the casual smart look to casual.
Construction is awesome, no loose threads or grain. Welt is tight. I wonder if these boots were from the era where AE had better quality control?

A couple questions!

I have these boots in both brown and black. The brown ones have a much smoother, less grainy leather which can be polished to a reflective shine. Also the site said they came with both red and black laces. They only had one set of laces. The brown was red and the black was black. Perhaps I misunderstood the site. Overall they are a good value and make a nice dress boot for inclement weather and they are made in the USA!!
