They worked right out of the box, walked for thirty days through Europe with a 50 pound pack. Also went to business events with them, so they were perfect. Waterproof in the fall. One of the best purchases of the year for me.

This shoe is surviving and thriving in the snowy, wet, & cold Chicago winter. My only complaint is that the left lace is slightly fraying on the top metal lacing eyelet. Also, if you're looking for a shoe that breathes well, this may not be the shoe for you. That being said, waterproof shoes do not breathe well, so pick your preference. They took about a week to break in. These shoes are an overall great value and have stood the test of snow, water, and cold. For as utilitarian as they perform, they look professional enough to negate the need for an in-office shoe change at the start of the workday. I would definitely recommend this shoe for professional winter-wear. Note: I very briefly broke in these shoes hiking trails outside Seattle, WA and they handled the terrain well. Though at first a stiff fit, they are now very comfortable and still well structured for exceptional weather protection.

I actuallty use these primarily in a corporate environment where suit and tie are required. They are just barely professional looking enough to get away with. They feel as good, or maybe a ittle bit better, than my beloved teva sandals.
