The boots are excellent. Warm and waterproof. I just wish they were not so bulky.

Saving my life

As someone attending school at the heart of the Midwest's "polar vortex", I can safely assert that these boots are now my go-to protection from the elements. They look uber-classy and are very clearly made from quality materials and constructed with extreme thought and worksmanship. Love 'em love 'em love 'em. Student loans are real and I understand that, but I would rather buy one pair of these right now than 5 shoddier pairs over the course of the next 10 years.

I rarely write reviews, but since I would have saved myself some hefty shipping fees by reading the reviews on here I thought I would spare someone else from making the same mistakes.
What everyone is saying about the weight of the boots is true. They are very heavy. This, compiled with the sizing issues, makes it so that if your boot is a bit too big the weight of the boot will make it so that with each step your foot is sliding around in the boot. I am a size 7.5 99.9% of the time and these seem like they are 1 size too big. They are also awkwardly big/cartoonlike, as compared to the other Sorels.
To add to all this, I have to pay to ship them back. Sorel won't charge for your new boots to get shipped, but good luck getting them. For a company that is doing so well, they can't seem to manage inventory levels very well.
Maybe this is a ploy (supply and demand) to make the boots harder, and there for hotter, to get. Either way, I waited 2 months for them to come back in stock in my size only to have to return them. To make matters worse, I was just told by Sorel that these probably won't come back in stock until the next season (or unless someone returns a pair). Well that's great, but I won't be needing these in the Spring.

Caribou's run large!

I typically wear a size 8.5 or 9 and decided to order an 8.5 based on reviews saying the boots are clunky and ran large. I tried them on and they were way too large, especially in the toe area. Even with thick wool socks and laced up tightly, I was not able to walk easily in these. I just returned them and ordered a size 8. Great quality boot so I'm hoping the new ones work!
