So I actually got these for me (adult female) because I have small feet/calves and did not want to buy the "full size". I am a size 7 in Womens and the Navy boot size 5M fit perfectly. I wear jeans and socks with them with no issue. Great buy!
I bought these as a petite adult to compare to the women's sizes. I normally am a 5.5 in women's and I bought a size 4 in children's and it fit well. The shaft height is lower on these than on the adult sizes so it may fit some petite women better. The price is also better if this size works for you. The main difference is that the children's has a reflector patch on the back and the heel is slightly smaller than the adult boot.

I love these boots! I have had a pair of the women's tall Hunter boots in size 7 for about 3 years. I love them for rainy days but they are too big in the calfs and I can only wear with the sock inserts. I was ready for a new color and decided to get the kids pair in violet, I am so happy I did. The price and fit was a lot better. I normally wear a 6 1/2 - 7 in womens and I got the 5M. I definitely recommend these!
Bought this in yellow for my mom as a gift. She's 4'11 and size 3 fits well. She has yet to wear it in the rain, but the color is great, material feels great, and it looks like it will hold up well. On top of that, the hunter box is pretty and it shipped quickly too.
