My walnut Strands arrived quickly and looked fantastic. The fit was perfect--just like my Park Avenues, which are made on the same last (#5).
The disappointment came the next day when I wore them to work. They squeaked so badly that my coworkers teased me all day (they had to admit, however, that they looked great). I was shocked since neither of my other 3 pairs of AEs ever had this problem.
I contacted Allen Edmonds via email to ask if there was something I could do to eliminate the squeak. They said there wasn't. Instead, they sent me return shipping labels and said they would ship me a new pair. Can't ask for better service than that.
The replacements haven't arrived yet, but I'm really impressed with the customer service from AE. They didn't even ask for proof of purchase. The return was hassle-free, except for trying to find a place to accept the UPS package--it wouldn't fit in a dropbox--but that isn't Nordstrom's or AE's fault.
If the new pair is quiet, I'll be very pleased with this purchase. If not for the squeak, I would have given 5 starts without hesitation.
This is a fantastic shoe, which is just what I've come to expect from Allen Edmonds. I'm a size 12, and this runs a tad longer than other size 12 AE's I own, but it's not a material difference to me. The design is excellent, and I love the walnut color. I'm looking forward to wearing and taking care of these shoes for a long time to come.

This shoe is not only great for its looks but is American made. I strongly recommend this shoe. I got the double E but need a 3 E but knew that was a possibility as I have a very wide foot.
