SIGNIFICANT COLOR DISCREPANCIES

I want to start by saying this is my first pair of Allen Edmonds. I have bought many pairs of Cole Haan, Johnston & Murphy, etc... I was very happy to finally get my first pair of AE! However, I was very disappointed when I opened the box. I ordered these shoes in the Walnut, thinking they would be that lighter tan as described by the pictures above, only to find that they were at the very least a complete shade darker than the picture above. They honestly resembled the Dark Chili more than the Walnut!
I understand they are hand-burnished and will not always completely resemble the pictures above, but when I order these shoes I expect them to be what is described. I then called customer service thinking there may have been some mistake, only to be told that "sometimes" the shades come in darker than what is shown on the website... I suppose this is one of those times. I hate to be writing this review because I have great respect for the quality and craftsmanship of this brand. However, being a small business owner myself, I pride myself in reaching my customers expectations. I am disappointed to say that in this case mine were not met, not even close :( I will say the customer service woman was nice and is going to send me some (complimentary) polish to try and bring out a lighter shade. Unfortunately, these shoes are so much darker I know the polish will not help. I have never had issues with such color discrepancies with any other brand... Help!

It's what makes each pair of Allen Edmonds unique. Unfortunate Color Inconsistencies

I love AE shoes. I have 2 pairs of strands and the hopkinson captoe oxford. I wanted to add the oxblood Mcallister, but the pair I ordered fit oddly in the toe. It seemed like a construction mishap, because I've tried them on in the store and did not have this problem.
I ordered a second pair in exchange. The tongue was a completely different color than the rest of the shoe. Noticeably different to the point of being unwearable. These are not factory seconds - at least they shouldn't be. I'll have to return a second pair, unfortunately. Beautiful shoes but in consistent.

Theses shoes are beautiful. They are the most comfortable shoes I own. I own 6 pair of AE and these are my absolutely my favorite.

A really superb shoe!

I agree with many other reviewers. Just a superb shoe. Great value, quality, look, and fit. I recently learned the proper way to tie laces, too, so they tighten rather than loosen during the course of the day. I also learned to tuck them under the facing for the best look. Love AE's for my every day business attire.
